Marking the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, Türkiye and China are enhancing their bilateral ties, particularly in areas such as trade, connectivity, technology, energy, and regional matters. The Turkish Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted the historical foundation of their relationship, which dates back to the Silk Road era when trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic interactions first flourished between the two civilizations.

Since the official establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971, the partnership between Türkiye and China has witnessed significant growth. China has emerged as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with their annual bilateral trade exceeding $50 billion. The ambassador emphasized that the connectivity between the nations has improved, evidenced by the rise in passenger and cargo flights connecting major cities. Additionally, Türkiye has bolstered its diplomatic presence across China by setting up multiple consulates and increasing economic engagements.

Both countries are committed to expanding their cooperation in crucial sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Ambassador Ünal noted that Ankara and Beijing hold similar perspectives on numerous international and regional issues, prioritizing peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention. This alignment further strengthens the foundation of their collaborative efforts.

Under the strategic guidance of their leaders, Türkiye and China are poised to advance their partnership with a focus on long-term economic growth and regional cooperation. The ambassador underscored that the shared vision of both nations aims to foster developments that benefit not only their respective countries but also contribute positively to the broader region.
